The Department of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) is part of the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs and shares the common mission of addressing the needs of urban living.
The department offers a full-time master's degree. The master's degree prepares students for a profession as a marriage and family therapist as well as a mental health counselor by integrating components of MFT theories as well as mental health diagnoses. The degree also qualifies students to apply for licensure in the state of Nevada and sit for the national MFT licensing exam.
The department also offers an undergraduate minor in family studies. The minor provides students with basic theory in family studies and therapy.
In December of 2007, we were officially granted candidacy status by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Education. To find out more about the accreditation process, click on COAMFTE under "Related links" on the right side of the main webpage.
